Animal Crossing, StarCraft among 2021 inductees into World Video Game Hall of Fame

(WHAM) — Four games have been selected as the 2021 inductees into the World Video Game Hall of Fame at the Strong Museum of Play in Rochester.

Animal Crossing, Microsoft Flight Simulator, StarCraft, andWhere in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? were announced Thursday morning as the selections from the field of 12 finalists.

The games were selected due to their sustained popularity and influence on the video game industry or on pop culture in general.

Call of Duty, FarmVille, FIFA International Soccer, Guitar Hero, Mattel Football, Pole Position, Portal, and Tron were the other finalists up for the honors this year.

The World Video Game Hall of Fame at The Strong was established in 2015.
