FORT COLLINS, Colo. (WKRC) — A baby Jesus statue was stolen from a nativity scene and reappeared days later attached to a handwritten apology.
The Fort Collins Police Department posted a security camera picture of a suspect stealing a baby Jesus statue from a nativity scene in the downtown area to their Facebook asking if anybody could identify the suspect.
The suspect seemed to have a quick change of heart since the Poudre Fire Authority reported that the statue had been dropped off on their doorstep with a handwritten apology taped to baby Jesus' face.
I am really sorry, I made a dumb mistake in the moment. It won't happen again," the note read.
The fire station said their motion-sensing cameras did not catch the thief dropping the statue back off, but the business that owned the statue said they weren't interested in pressing charges.
