The 11th annual Bras for a Cause had a successful run this weekend, as over 200 people filled the Carl Craft Civic Center in Hedrick, Iowa.

The event fundraises for breast cancer by having local firemen, police officers, friends and family, model decorated bras to auction.

The event organizer, Laurie Hornback, is a two-time breast cancer survivor.

Hornback has raised $176,000 in the past ten years, which all goes to breast cancer patients and mammogram programs in southeast Iowa. Laurie’s family and friends are moved by seeing how much the event has grown.

“It has been crazy. I remember the first year, my mom did the food and it was just a little soup supper. I think they only brought in like $3000 or $5000 and then next thing you know-boom! We were having $20,000 and $25,000 years and the line clear down everywhere it’s just been crazy, it’s amazing," said a close family friend, Ethan Cernic.

Cernic modeled a fishing themed bra that sold for almost $500.

Friends and family at the event were excited that Hornback will most likely hit her goal of reaching $200,000 in donations this year.
