DECATUR, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) – A senior center in Decatur is reaching out to seniors in need of someone to talk to.

Starting this week, the Macon County Senior Center will call every homebound senior citizen registered with the program, RUOK (are You O.K.). Calls will begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday to check on the senior's well-being.

The service is free of charge.

This program has been around for years, but now during the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become even more important.

To sign up, call the Macon County Senior Center at 217-429-1239. If there is no answer, leave a message and someone from the center will return your call.
