Denmark zoo invites people to donate pets as predator meals
AALBORG, Denmark (CBS12) — Have you ever pondered the fate of your beloved chicken or guinea pig?
Denmark's Aalborg Zoo has introduced an unconventional pet adoption program; they’re inviting folks to donate their smaller pets to help feed some rather hungry predators.
"In zoos, we have a responsibility to imitate the natural food chain of the animals - in terms of both animal welfare and professional integrity," the zoo said.
According to the zoo's Facebook post, chickens, rabbits, and guinea pigs are not just adorable little creatures; they’re also key players in the daily diets of the zoo's fierce carnivores.

Aalborg Zoo said that their staff will gently euthanize the animals and then transform them into tasty tidbits for their carnivorous residents.
In addition to smaller creatures, the zoo said that they accept those horses as well, but they must have a horse passport.
Residents who donate their pet can even get a tax deduction.
