WASHINGTON (TND) — A K-9 who went missing from his home in California was safely returned by a good Samaritan that found him playing with her dog.
The Madera County Sheriff's Office said K-9 Odin, a Belgian Malinois, escaped from the fenced-in yard of his home by climbing over the top of his 6-foot kennel andsubsequently climbing over the 6-foot fence of the backyard.
The department was even offering a $2,000 reward for anyone with information.
During the search, there were confirmed sightings but nothing definite until K-9 Odin showed up at a stranger's home.
Camryn Escoto said she returned home to find her German Shepherd "happily playing" with another dog.
At the time, she was unaware K-9 Odin was missing until his handler was reunited with his partner.
Deputies said he appeared to be in good spirits and thankfully had no apparent injuries.
"We cannot thank Ms. Escoto enough for her swift response reporting Odin’s location," Sheriff Tyson Pogue said. "Our community has proven once again what a truly tight-knit, compassionate, supportive place it is, and we are proud to serve each of you. We feel fortunate and grateful for this outcome, and once again thank all of those who helped the extensive search efforts today.”
