Experts identify shark spotted near Block Island

A shark seen swimming near Block Island all week has been identified as a basking shark.

The Atlantic Shark Institute said basking sharks are not a risk to people.

Basking sharks are not aggressive and are filter feeders.

Officials said the shark is about 20 feet long.

The shark has since left Block Island, headed toward warmer waters.
