A first responder that "tossed his cookies" inadvertently ended up helping a bakery go viral on social media.

An apology in the form of a gag cake has drawn millions of eyes to a sweets shop in St. Albans, West Virginia.

Jacob Hernandez is a Charleston firefighter who took his annual physical agility test in March.

I get about halfway through the test -- after doing the Kyser test of evolution -- and I can feel it coming,” Hernandez said.

The first responder admitted his nerves got the better of him and he got sick on the course, but was able to finish.

There's a tradition here. After you pass your year test, you buy steaks and desserts for everybody,” Hernandez said.

That’s when he reached out to Lil’ Bit of Heaven Cupcakes. Owner Teri Blevins spoke with WCHS about the conversation.

Apparently, he left his breakfast all over the obstacle course and he wanted to know if we could make him a cake that could reflect that and also say, 'I'm sorry I threw up on your obstacle course.' And I said, ‘Of course I can,'"Blevins said.

Blevins said she made the cake on March 31 but what happened next what completely unexpected. A post on social media showing the cake had gone viral.

I think it was the 5th of April," she said. "I woke up and it had hit 1 million and I just couldn't believe it."

The post has now reached more than 5 million people.

We had people commenting from all over the country and sharing it and laughing,” Blevins said. “It definitely grossed some people out but it also made some people laugh."

Although it was a way to commemorate an unpleasant experience, with some tasteful flavors added in the cake was completely edible and reported to be delicious.
