PALM BEACH, Fla. (WPEC) — A 66-year-old woman crashed into an art sculpture in Florida, a piece of work that's valued at $3 million, police said.
According to the arrest report, officers arrived at the scene on March 31 to see Elizabeth S. Raese had driven her blue and gray Rolls Royce through a rear yard in Palm Beach and through the seawall of the property.
Video surveillance from the scene showed Raese entering the property eastbound from the driveway of Canterbury Lane, then driving east down the driveway and making contact with a curb on the north side of the driveway. The vehicle came to stop before driving east and striking the Coral Art sculpture, the investigation report says.
Police said Raese then drove east into a landscape fence and then into a seawall and onto the beach.
The investigation report said, at the final resting point, the vehicle was suspended on the seabed wall which is approximately 5 feet high. The front of the vehicle was touching the sand and the rear was sitting on top of the seawall.
The damage to the seawall is capped at approximately $10,000, the scuff marks to the curb were estimated to be around $50 worth of damage and the landscaping fence damage is estimated to be $50.
Raese was removed from the vehicle by the Palm Beach Fire Rescue and medically evaluated.
