Help name 2 baby red panda cubs at the Birmingham Zoo

BIRMINGHAM, Ala (WBMA) — The Birmingham Zoo needs your help naming two Red Panda cubs. The two male cubs were born at the zoo on May 31 to Gizmo and Kodo and live in the Predator Building.

In honor of International Red Panda Day on Saturday, Sept. 16, the Birmingham Zoo would like to invite the public to vote on their favorite names.

Voting will be open on Friday, Sept. 15 and Saturday, Sept. 16 on the Birmingham Zoo’s social media channels: Facebook @BirminghamZoo, Instagram @bhamzoo, and Twitter @BirminghamZoo.

Option 1: Ajax / Kai - Ajax means earth and Kai means water/oceans.

Option 2: Cosmo / Meeko - Phonetically similar to their parents, Kodo and Gizmo.

One voter will be randomly selected to win a special private keeper chat at the front of the red panda exhibit with an Animal Care Professional.
