A handful of naughty horses were caught on campus at Virginia Tech after escaping their pasture Thursday night.

The police department shared photos of the four-legged culprits caught with the Virginia Tech campus seen rising in the background.

'Hay! It's pasture bedtime! Last night, a few four-legged Hokies were horsing around and decided to tour campus," the police department said in a Facebook post.

Thankfully, a pair of security guards were able to get the horses safely into a fenced-in area until help could arrive.

"Well done, Makayla and Scott!" VTP said. "Maybe we'll consider adding a cowboy hat option to the Security Guard fit..."

The VT Campbell & Smithfield Horse Centers commented on the Facebook post to blame one of the horses named Miss Rosie.

"We spoke with Miss Rosie this morning about her late night escapade and recommended she not lead her friends on overnight tours in the future!" the horse centers said. "We appreciate your help in our late night adventure to get them back to their pasture for the night!"

The horse centers also said they installed a fresh gate latch to keep the horses in and prevent future 11 p.m. explorations.

"Several acres to graze and the grass still must have looked greener over main campus..." VT Campbell & Smithfield Horse Centers said. "Thanks to our crew that came out at 11pm to help locate the mystery herd of horses spotted running around and get them put back home safe and sound for the night!"
