'It hit last year and it hit again': Maryland man wins lottery 3 times using same number

CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (WJLA) — A Maryland man is $50,000 richer after using the same lottery numbers to win prizes three times.

Maryland Lottery officials said the "big winner" returned to its headquarters to claim his third $50,000 win in 11 months. The man had previously won $100,000 on two tickets he purchased in the May 18, 2022, midday drawing.

It hit last year and it hit again,” he told lottery officials. “My wife said, ‘Let’s play this number’ and we keep winning with it.”

The truck driver said although most winners stop playing after their lucky number is drawn, he will keep going.

“I play the lottery all the time. You never know. You can’t win if you are not in it," he said.

The winning ticket was bought at Big Mouth Beer, Wine and Liquor in Waldorf. As a result of the win, the retailer will receive a $500 bonus.
