OGUNQUIT, Maine (WGME) — Fighting fires in a warzone: that's what many firefighters in Ukraine are forced to do as their war with Russia nears the two-year mark.
Firefighters in Maine want to help.
The Ogunquit Fire Department collected old but usable gear, including self-contained breathing apparatuses, protective gear, and tools to send to firefighters in Ukraine.
They received donations from Sanford, Saco, New Gloucester, Bethel, and Rangeley, as well as fire departments in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
The department also collected gear for Ukraine last summer.
Right now, Ukraine says they need more help of all kinds from the U.S. as Russia continues its attack.
