New York dad's viral TikTok brings fathers everywhere to tears

CONSTANTIA, N.Y. (WSTM) — An adorable father and son moment captured on a Ring camera in New York is going viral on TikTok and making people smile all over the world. The video shows an eight-second goodbye hug between a son and his dad.

Tyler Lobdell’s truck had almost cleared the driveway of the family home when he realized his son Isaiah, 8, wanted something. The video shows the child flag his father down with one arm, wearing pajamas and barefoot, he’s suddenly swept into his father’s arms for a hug.

"Sometimes they come out to see me, sometimes they come into the garage," Lobdell said of his sons Isaiah and Hudson, who is 6 years old. “I’m lucky to have them."

Lobdell posted the Ring video to TikTok, using music from the late 1980s song "Forever and Ever, Amen" which was first recorded by country singer Randy Travis. The lyrics say, “I’m gonna love you forever. Forever and ever Amen. As long as old men sit and talk about the weather, as long as old women sit and talk about old men.”

With 180,000+ likes on the platform, the video has generated thousands of comments and Lobdell empathizes with a lot of them.

"Some people write that they miss their parent, or that they do this with their kids," he said. "I am so happy that this moment with my children may have brought an extra hug to someone somewhere in the world. I’m so proud that my kids show love that way."
