PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (WPEC) — A family in Florida got some much-needed help getting out of their home after Hurricane Ian Thursday morning.
Officers with the Port St. Lucie Police Department responded to a call from the family whose home was shuttered up and without power.
On top of that, a large tree had blown over, blocking the garage and front door, trapping them.
Officers Peto, Astrella and Doty worked to cut and move the tree, freeing the family, police said.
None of the victims' full names were released, but WPEC learned 3-year-old Nayle and 4-year-old Jaylen did well despite the scary situation.
They were all smiles when they met the officers and got their own police patches.
