COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — President Joe Biden is welcoming a German Shepherd puppy to the White House.

"Welcome to the White House, Commander," the President tweeted Monday afternoon.

Commander is arriving at the White House about six months after the Bidens' 13-year-old German Shepherd Champ passed away.

The first family's other German Shepherd, Major, was briefly at the White House before he was sent home to Delaware after biting two people.

Major was the first rescue dog to live at the White House.
