MANTEO, N.C. (WCTI) — The North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island recently discovered one of their crab pots had been raided.

Thanks to one of their staffers, Alex, setting up a camera on the soundside educational dock, they caught the culprits!

River otters had been snacking on the blue crabs inside the pots.

In the video, you can see the otters take notice of it and get up close and personal. Even a blue heron made a cameo.

The Aquarium said in their Facebook post that the presence of the otters is a good sign. River otters are an indicator species, meaning them hanging out is a sign of a healthy ecosystem in that area.
