A toddler was able to slip through the White House fence Wednesday and make it onto the grounds before being stopped by Secret Service.

"Just after 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division officers observed a child slip through the White House north fence. Officers quickly reunited the child with their parents without incident," Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said in a post on X.

A video showed the toddler wearing a blue coat and red shoes while being carried by Secret Service agents.

In 2023, another toddler was able to squeeze through the metal fence on the north side of the complex before being scooped up by the Secret Service.

A new 13-foot fence was constructed around the White House beginning in July 2019 to help keep intruders out.

The United States Secret Service and the National Park Service started working hand-in-hand in 2014 "to develop an appropriate barrier that will keep the White House and grounds as accessible as possible to the public while ensuring the security of the White House and its occupants," the White House said.
