WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (WPEC) — People living on West Palm Beach's Australian Avenue were surprised to see an unlikely resident take a stroll down their street.
On Monday evening, the West Palm Beach Police Department was notified of an alligator headed down the avenue.
WPEC captured video of the gator weaving in and out of traffic and onlookers.
Officers contacted the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to trap and relocate the gator. A short time later, the alligator was captured by an FWC officer.
The gator did cause a delay in traffic, with many drivers slowing down or stopping while gator crossed the street. However, once it was captured, the flow of traffic was steady.
