McDonald's recently added an unexpected new side to its menu, and it's safe to say social media users have had some strong reactions.

The fast food restaurant posted a picture of a small dish filled with corn, captioned, "Officially entering our Buttered Corn era. Butter add this as your side for a full meal!"

It may have been a reference to Taylor Swift's "Eras Tour." McDonald's previously made a post saying it would be easier to get one of its discontinued Snack Wraps than concert tickets.

While some thought it was a prank at first, the corn has made its way onto the online menu. The description reads, "A tasty, healthy and fresh side dish to pair with any meal."

It's currently only available at locations in thePhilippines, but that hasn't stopped people all over the world from voicing their opinions. Some of the top comments read:

"Doing everything but crispy snack wraps"

"Cinnamelts, snack wraps, parfaits no.. corn!"

"Nobody asked for this— y’all were TOLD — MULTIPLE TIMES to bring snack wraps back and ya didn’t listen and now Burger King stole ya crown. RIP McDonald’s."

It's not clear yet if McDonald's has any plans to offer Buttered Corn in other countries.
