Stunning view of Horsetail Fall at Yosemite

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (FOX26) — February is a great time to visit Yosemite National Park, especially if you can witness Horsetail Fall.

Horsetail Fall is a seasonal waterfall that flows in the winter and early spring on the east side of El Capitan.

The unique view is created by the light of the sunset creating an orange glow as it hits the water.

A friend of the station, Keaton Baker, founder of Yosemite Coffee Company, recently visited the Yosemite National Park for his 25th birthday.

Keaton says he has made the trip on his birthday for the past four years but has made a total of eight trips to try to capture the rare site.

Keaton says he and his dad headed up on Feb. 13th and got into the valley around noon before setting off on the 2.5-mile hike to see fall.

"Shortly after we got there, people started rolling in, we made new friends from Florida, San Diego, even the Bay Area," said Keaton. "We drank some coffee and hung out for the 4 hours leading up to when firefall was actually going to happen. We were worried about the cloud conditions as well as the weather because there were two times while we were waiting when it started raining and even had some freezing rain. However, we had about 4 minutes of actually getting to see the firefall in action and it was breathtaking."

Well worth the 8 trips I have made over the last four years! It should be on everyone's bucket list! It was made even better by a cup of my Yosemite Coffee!
