Trump retweets video of coronavirus lockdown protesters, says they're 'great people'

(WPEC) — President Trump on Saturday retweeted a video of protesters berating a reporter in Long Island during a lockdown protest.

The original tweet from reporter Kevin Vesey on Thursday shows protesters on a sidewalk with signs about the coronavirus saying "you are fake news."

The president retweeted the video on Saturday morning, saying "People can't get enough of this. Great People!"

Americans across the country, including in the president's own backyard, Palm Beach County, have taken to the streets to protest lockdown and social distancing orders that have cost jobs for millions of Americans, causing the unemployment rate to skyrocket to a historic 14.7 percent in April.

In Florida alone, 1.5 million unique claims for unemployment have been filed with millions of dollars paid out.
