The Smyrna Police Department responded to reports of a shooting Monday at around 1:35 a.m.

First Responders arrived on the 700 block of Nissan Drive where they found two people with gunshot wounds.

SPD says that a person entered the Circle K on the 700 block of Nissan Drive and asked the clerk to call 911. The person said that they and their passenger had been hit by gunfire.

The person said that they and their passenger were shot when two vehicles in the area shot at each other. Rutherford County EMS took both victims to the hospital. One is stable and one is in critical condition.

The SPD Criminal Investigations Unit has worked all morning to investigate the shooting. SPD believes this is an isolated incident between people who know each other.
