SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WZTV) — Some Middle Tennessee districts announced this week they are calling off school due to COVID-19 concerns.
Marion County schools are also closing school from Sept. 2 to Sept. 10 for intensive cleaning and COVID-19 numbers. All extra-curricular activities are also suspended during this time. Students will come back to school on Sept. 13.
Cannon County Schools are closed for the rest of the week, but the website did not give a reason.
Sumner County Schools is calling off school from Sept. 7 to Sept. 10 to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 among students and staff.
Sumner County Schools said during the canceled days, there will be no instruction via GoogleClassroom. The school system plans to use inclement weather days for Sept. 7 to Sept. 10.
Extracurricular activities, including sports practices and games, will be allowed to continue after normal school dismissal time.
Sumner County students will return back to school on Sept. 13.
“We encourage everyone to practice safe, healthy measures during this break to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 within our community,” the school system wrote on Facebook.
Rutherford County Schools is calling off school on Friday, Sept. 3. The district says they are short-staffed on bus drivers and cafeteria workers. A stockpile day will be used to cover the closure. Classes will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 7.
