A new hotel with 360-degree views has opened its doors in Music City. Nashville Mayor John Cooper and city leaders gathered Wednesday morning to unveil W Nashville.

The 14-story, mirrored tower, holding 286 rooms and 60 suites, is nestled in the heart of the Gulch neighborhoodon 12th Ave. South.

With nearly 60 hotels under their belt, W Hotels wanted their latest property to capture the essence of Nashville with each finishing touch.

Developers aimed to create a luxurious, yet local feel by bringing in rugged elements like iron, steel, raw concrete and wood designs. Some room styles take inspiration from Nashville’s historic music scene with televisions surrounded with speaker cloth, guitar pick and stud detailing, hand-stitched leather wall panels and furniture with visual hints of vintage stereo equipment.

"Authenticity was at the heart of this project. Every decision and choice we made on design, materials, finishes, art and our collaborators took this into consideration. As a result, the hotel has a very tactile quality and at every turn there is something visually provocative. All of our amenities and offerings have a unique character and identity," said David Tessier, President, Hospitality Gaming Advisors.

Representatives say they wanted the space to be surrounded by art that speaks to the soul and soundtrack of the state. Original prints by the godfather of rock ‘n’ roll photography Jim Marshall, a 96-inch Jim Dine double heart canvas, and outdoor murals give the hotel a Tennessee edge.

In true Nashville fashion, the property includes an outdoor mural by renowned artist Kelsey Montague, who painted the popular Gulch wings. Montague’s newest mural invites guests to snap photos on top of a suitcase. The building’s façade is marked with a Jimi Hendrix mural by street artist Bryan Deese.

"The W experience has always been centered on a local, social scene but W Nashville takes it to the next level," said Tom Jarrold, Global Brand Leader, W Hotels Worldwide. "Today's global traveler is not content staying at a hotel with superficial neighborhood references and locals are not embracing of hotels that ignore the social fabric of the community. W Nashville is different as it weaves itself into the Gulch seamlessly and authentically through the brand's distinct lens."

With a nod to southern living, the hotel also boasts an indoor-outdoor flow with more than 26,000 square feet of outdoor space.

Some of the hotel’s other amenities include a Welcome Den lounge only accessible by room key, a coffee shop, two restaurants from Chef Andrew Carmellini, a 10,000 square foot wet deck with a 2,000 square foot L-shaped pool and private cabanas, a yoga lawn, a fitness center, rooftop bar, anda live entertainment venue coming soon.
