Many communities across the southeastern U.S. were impacted by Hurricane Helene's catastrophic rainfall and winds. The damage has left millions of people dealing with the aftermath.

Sinclair Broadcast Group teamed up with the Salvation Army to provide critical relief to communities that are picking up the pieces of this historic storm's destruction.

Sinclair Broadcasting Group's partnership with the Salvation Army kicks off Tuesday, October 1. In addition, Sinclair will provide a corporate donation up to $50,000 for the first $50,000 raised through www.SinclairCares.com.

Friday, October 4, Day of Giving, Sinclair affiliates will be showing images capturing the scope of damage, the magnitude of that devastation, and why there is a need for help on the ground throughout the day.

In Florida,the organization has 22 mobile feeding units active with other arriving. All mobile units will provide meals, drinks, snacks, and emotional and spiritual care in Perry and Live Oak, and additionally local areas including Bradenton, Citrus, Clearwater, Port Charlotte, Sarasota, and Baker County are serving the specific needs in those communities. As of September 29, 2,475 meals, 7,781 drinks, 1,489 snacks, 114 MREs, and 5,372 food boxes, 114 cases of ready-to-eat meals, have been distributed along with 845 touch points for emotional and spiritual care support.

In Georgia, the organization has three incident management teams operating services. The Georgia IMT is located in Valdosta with the Southern Baptist Disaster Kitchen from Kentucky that will serve five counties. Local service delivery continues with feeding at six emergency shelters in Valdosta, Bainbridge, Albany, Douglas, Kingsland, and in Thomasville. The Salvation Army Savannah canteen and two other canteens will provide meals to survivors in several counties in Chatham County. The Salvation Army in Elberton has a canteen and crew that is traveling to Augusta to support the local Salvation Army Corps and Kroc Center in their service delivery to the community. As of September 28, 1,467 meals, 2,838 drinks, 1,255 snacks, and 1,628 food boxes have been distributed to survivors and responders in Georgia.

In North Carolina,the organization's incident management teams are activated and are mobilized into western part of the state and setting up a location to start serving meals. Two Salvation Army canteens in service: one canteen in Watauga County and in Boone at The Salvation Army Service Center, serving the local community and one canteen in Buncombe County, N.C. is serving meals in partnership with the North Carolina Baptists at the state operated shelter.

In South Carolina,the organization participated in the state feeding task force. Two Salvation Army canteens are in service: one canteen in Columbia County, serving meals, drinks, and snacks to community members in Saluda and one canteen in Charlotte, serving meals, drinks, and snacks to in Aiken. The Salvation Army is coordinating with the South Carolina Baptists for potential partnership in Aiken, South Carolina.

In Tennessee, a Salvation Army incident management team is traveling to Johnson City to start serving meals immediately to survivors and has four canteens in service.

In Virginia, the organization is feeding at an Emergency Operations Center and will be feeding those who are experiencing power outages.
