'90 Day: Happily Ever After?' couples face ultimatums and stormy weather in second episode
The couples are facing some tough decisions and awkward discoveries on this week’s “90 Day: Happily Ever After.”
Let’s check in with everyone.
GINO AND JASMINE (AND NOW NATALIE MAYBE)
Gino and Natalie have been hitting it off very well in Las Vegas, but he also hasn’t exactly told her just yet that he and Jasmine are in an open marriage technically. After a night together at his hotel, Gino drops the news while playing a game with her at an indoor playground arcade bar place, which feels like a fitting metaphor for what’s going on.
Natalie is not on board with the open marriage concept and has a lot of (correct) questions about the real status of his relationship with Jasmine. By the time he’s leaving Las Vegas, she more or less tells him to divorce Jasmine or call it quits with her, because she doesn’t want to be hidden or used as a pawn. Gino admits he’s still incredibly torn between loving and hating Jasmine and has some tough decisions to make.
By the way, if you noticed that Natalie and Jasmine look an awful lot alike, you’re not alone. Gino’s cousin-in-law Michelle brings it up while out shopping with Jasmine and spills the beans that Gino is with Natalie, which is a violation of the rules they laid out when they decided to do an open marriage.
ANDREI AND ELIZABETH
After Loren’s friend calls Andrei an a-hole for apparently pressuring Elizabeth to move to Moldova and storms out, the housewarming party is pretty much dead.
Loren and Alexei discuss the situation and both admit that her friend was wrong, but Andrei can be very overbearing too. She wraps up the evening determined to talk to Elizabeth more about the Molodva situation, wanting to make sure her pal isn’t being overruled.
At home, Andrei and Elizabeth also agree the party was a flop, but she does question why he brought up moving to his home country at the party in a way that made it sound like an ultimatum. Sounds like their upcoming trip will be some kind of gamechanger one way or another.
DARCEY AND GEORGI
Darcey and her twin sister Stacey are turning 50, but while Stacey’s man Florian is on hand to escort them to the party, Georgi is still at work. Doing massages. And he’s apparently gotten a promotion, but didn’t tell Darcey until her birthday as an explanation for why he doesn’t have the day off to celebrate her milestone birthday. Bad planning Georgi!
The party starts and Darcey is feeling pretty sad her husband isn’t there, but then he finally strolls innot wearing his wedding ring. He says he took it off for work and just forgot it, but one of her friend’s points out he’s decked out in plenty of gold chains, so he didn’t forget those, did he? He also leaves Darcey begging for a kiss after they bring out the cake for her birthday, while her twin gets a passionate smooch from her man.
Another problem hanging over the party is the couple’s upcoming trip to Bulgaria, which Georgi wants Darcey to tone down her sexy wardrobe for when they meet his parents. Georgi confirms his concerns with a fellow Bulgarian friend, and that friend’s wife also confirms to Darcey that the family is going to be judgmental and expect a more conservative woman. All this only makes both of them more nervous for the trip ahead.
TIGERLILY AND ADNAN
We begin with the couple arguing and flashback four months to Tigerlily on a homestead, six months pregnant and awaiting Adnan’s arrival in the U.S.
The ride has been a bumpy one for these two after meeting online. Shortly after that, Tigerlily flew to his home country of Jordan and they were married in a lavish wedding that same day and quickly got pregnant. But there’s quite q few issues separating these two, a big one being that she is Christian and he is Muslim and he is pushing for not only their baby to be raised Muslim (which doesn’t bother her) but for her to convert too (which does bother her).
Tigerlily picks him up at the airport with black balloons and their drive home is marred by a thunderstorm rolling in over Dallas, all of which feels incredibly ominous. Also ominous is Adnan’s insitince that he drive her Lamborghini, even though he just flew 27 hours to get there and has never been in the U.S. let alone driven here. Tigerlily gives him the keys but is anxious the whole time, especially because he keeps blowing through stop signs.
GUILLERMO AND KARA
Guillermo and Kara haven’t had sex in three months, which flusters him. But the reason Kara won’t agree to be intimate stems from a couple’s counseling session where he said “I don’t know” about whether or not he loved and cared for her. Ouch.
That painful admission has cooled the relationship, but Guillermo wants to try to do better, and that’s why we see them and their adorable toddler Nico enjoy an afternoon out at peach orchard. It’s a place they’ve been before and Guillermo is hoping it’ll spark some affection between them again. It overall goes well, but there’s still a lot of hurt to fix before they can fully reconnect.
