Cassie's team breaks silence after Diddy found not guilty of sex trafficking
Cassie's team issued a statement today after Sean “Diddy” Combs was found not guilty of sex trafficking crimes.
Cassie’s attorney Douglas H. Wigdor released a statement on Wednesday after the verdict was read, “This entire criminal process started when our client Cassie Ventura had the courage to file her civil complaint in November 2023. Although the jury did not find Combs guilty of sex trafficking Cassie beyond a reasonable doubt, she paved the way for a jury to find him guilty of transpiration to engage in prostitution,” he said in a statement to Us Weekly.
Wigdor continues, “By coming forward with her experience, Cassie has left an indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and the fight for justice. We must repeat – with no reservation- that we believe and support our client who showed exemplary courage throughout this trial. She displayed unquestionable strength and brought attention to the realities of powerful men in our orbit and the misconduct that has persisted for decades without repercussion.”
Cassie, who's real name is Casandra Elizabeth Ventura, was one of several women who said he forced them into drug-fueled sex marathons called “freak-offs” and “hotel nights.” Cassie testified in court for four days. She detailed the alleged incidents of physical and sexual abuse she endured from Combs.
Diddy was found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The 55-year-old mogul was acquitted on charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. Each transpiration charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. The prosecution did ask if Diddy can serve any potential sentences consecutively, which means he is facing a maximum of 20 years in prison.
At the time of Cassie's testimony, she was eight and a half months pregnant. On May 27th, she gave birth to her third child, a baby boy with husband Alex Fine. This is their third child together but their first son.
