'Cobra Kai' star explains why he bit co-star in police footage: report

“Cobra Kai” star Martin Kove, 78, tried to explain why he bit his co-star, Alicia Hannah-Kim, 37, during a convention in Puyallup , Washington.

According to a report from authorities, on June 22 at Summer Con, Hannah-Kim approached an officer in the VIP area after Kove took her arm and bit “so hard he nearly drew blood,” per Variety.

In body cam footage captured by the Puyallup Police, Kove said, "I was just playing because we're very playful together, and I bit down too hard, and I meant to just...,” per Fox News Digital.

An officer replies, “She’s got a mouth mark on her” and Hannah-Kim adds, “No, we do not play like that.”

Kove says “I apologize” and she says “no,” in reply. Another clip shows her saying “it hurts still.”

Later in the clip, Kove further explains, "All morning, I was thinking when she said, 'Ow, you hurt me.'"

"I wanted to come back and see how she’s doing," he continued, mentioning that another co-star allegedly “intercepted” him from doing so.

Kove states again he attempted to apologize and explained, "You know, because we play all the time, we pop, we hit, we do stuff all the time because she's a female sensei, I'm the male sensei. We have all our scenes together, and we have a lot of fun.”

The police footage comes after Kove was forced to leave the fan convention early over the weekend.

In the report obtained by Variety, it states that Hannah-Kim cried out in pain after the bite and Kove allegedly started kissing her arm where he had bitten her. She then told her husband, who was with her at the event, and they went to confront Kove about the bite.

Allegedly, per the report, after being confronted, Kove, “exploded on them, saying something to the effect of how dare they confront him.” That’s when Hannah-Kim and her husband asked the reporting office to step in and diffuse the situation.

Hannah-Kim reportedly said she did not want to file charges, but “wished to have a report filed in case this continues.”
