Is Margot Robbie joining the new DC movie universe with Superman?
The fate of Margot Robbie’s fan favorite character, Harley Quinn, in the revamped DC movie universe is still up in the air.
Robbie played the cartoony but clever character in “Suicide Squad,” “Birds of Prey,” and “The Suicide Squad.”
“The Suicide Squad” was directed by James Gunn, who also directed this summer’s “Superman” and is the co-head of DC Studios, which handles the characters of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and more.
With Gunn in charge, what does that mean for the character?
"That will be revealed down the line," he told Entertainment Weekly.
He did tease he’d like to bring back Idris Elba’s character from “The Suicide Squad,” Bloodsport, in a future project.
"I definitely am always looking for a place to put Bloodsport and figuring that out," Gunn said, “So we’ll see what happens.”
The next project in the newly renovated DC Universe is season two of “Peacemaker,” starring John Cena, on HBO Max August 21.
Robbie was a producer on “Birds of Prey,” the standalone movie featureing Harley Quinn, and has no solid plans for the character yet either.
"I don't know when we're next going to see her. I'm just as intrigued as everyone else is,” she previously told Entertainment Wekly.
She also is ok taking a break from the character.
"It was kind of back-to-back filming ‘Birds’... and filming [‘The Suicide Squad’], so I was kind of like, 'Oof, I need a break from Harley because she's exhausting.'"
