Nikki Haley appears in 'SNL' cold open, mocks Trump and delivers 'Live from New York' line

As she campaigns for her home state's primary, Republican presidential candidate and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley made a cameo appearance on "Saturday Night Live."

Haley appeared near the end of the cold open, which depicted a fictional CNN Town Hall for former president and GOP frontrunner Donald Trump in South Carolina. She questioned why Trump, played by James Austin Johnson, would not debate her and his mental competency, while the sketch parodied Trumpconfusing Haley for former House speaker Nancy Pelosiand beingordered to pay $83.3 millionin E. Jean Carroll's defamation lawsuit.

Haley also poked fun at thebacklash she receivedfor not acknowledging slavery caused the Civil War before delivering the "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!" opening phrase.

"Had a blast tonight on SNL," she wrote on social media. "Know it was past Donald's bedtime, so looking forward to the stream of unhinged tweets in the a.m."

The South Carolina Republican primary will be held on Feb. 24.
