Suspect arrested in homicide of 'American Idol' music supervisor
An arrest has been made in the murder of “American Idol” music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband, Thomas DeLuca.
The couple are believed to have been killed after walking in on a burglary suspect, who authorities believe entered the otherwise heavily secured home through an unlocked door.
Police told The Los Angeles Times that after Kaye and DeLuca entered the home, “a confrontation ensued, which resulted in the suspect taking their lives.” They said the suspect fled on foot after the incident.
Kaye and DeLuca were found in separate rooms, each shot multiple times.
Per the outlet, the Los Angeles Police Department arrested 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, a resident of Encino.
Boodarian was arrested Tuesday without incident by LAPD and FBI officers, the L.A. Times reported. Sources for the outlet said the killings appeared to be random, but investigators were looking for any possible connections between the suspect and the couple.
Law enforcement told TMZ that Kaye and DeLuca were discovered Monday after LAPD officers were called for a welfare check on the couple by an unknown individual.
Kaye and Deluca had not been heard from for four days when they were both found to have been shot in the head, per the outlet. Officers saw blood at the front entrance of the home and a smashed window to gain entry.
LAPD officers did respond to a call to the home last Thursday when an unidentified suspect was seen trying to enter the home and may have been armed. Neighbors told TMZ that they saw someone hopping a fence and called police. Officers responded but found no signs of forced entry.
It is unknown if that incident and the homicides are related.
Kaye worked as the music supervisor for “American Idol” for the past 15 seasons, from 2002 to 2023. She also worked on “Lip Sync Battle,” and multiple “Miss USA” and “Miss Universe” pageant specials, earning several Guild of Music Supervisor Awards for her work.
