Four privately-owned zebras that were being transported got loose on a Washington state freeway before being contained in a nearby fenced enclosure.

According to Washington State Patrol, the animals escaped on eastbound I-90 near exit 32 near North Bend.

The King County Sheriff’s Office received calls regarding four zebras running loose at approximately 12:52 p.m. As of 2:36 p.m., the zebras have been contained in a nearby fenced enclosure, according to KCSO.

WSP said the community has come together to help contain the loose animals.

King County Animal Control officers and Washington State animal specialists are formulating a plan to get the zebras back in the transport vehicle safely, according to KCSO.
