CINCINNATI, Ohio (WKRC) - There's a new contraption at Fenwick Hall on Xavier University's campus that is attracting a lot of curious visitors. It's a Pizza ATM that bakes pizzas.

"We have no pizza places around here except Domino's so this is pretty cool," said XU student Makenzie McFelea, who showed the machine to a friend via FaceTime.

The Pizza ATM is easy to use. Orders are placed on a screen and then payment can be made using a credit card or a student ID card loaded with money. The pizza takes three minutes to bake at 500 degrees. Once it's finished the ATM ejects it in a box through a slot like a crisp $20 bill.

"It can store 70 pizzas at any one given time," said Jude Kiah, an assistant vice president at Xavier University.

The Pizza ATM is the first one to be used in the United States according to Alec Verlin, president of Paline, the company that owns the machine.

"It's exciting first of all. It's challenging a little bit because we have to adapt the machine,” Verlin said. He said the Pizza ATM has been in Europe for 14 years.

The women's soccer team passed the ATM and tried a slice. The players are giving it a thumbs up.

"It looked really good, really cheesy and it was really warm," said Jessica Miller. "It's going to be really nice that it's going to be right there on campus to eat it."

Xavier University hopes to have the Pizza ATM ready for students when classes start August 22. A grand opening will be held September 8, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
