NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A little more peace in Music City, construction projects are constant in Nashville and Metro Council Members are pushing to crack down on the noise.
North Nashville resident, Mayree Edwards, said her street is already crowded and working from home just makes it even more frustrating.
“It seems like every few months, we're seeing one of them [houses] get knocked down and replaced by these, we call them tall and skinny’s, and we welcome our new neighbors but the noise can be a lot,” said Mayree Edwards.
“Especially when you are working from home or just trying to relax and enjoy your time at home,” Edwards added.
Edwards said construction brings more problems into her neighborhood, like parking, since construction vehicles block traffic sometimes.
“You've got people stopped in the middle of the street, then you've got people with their music blasting as they go down the street, and if they're stuck in the midst of construction, and then you've got somebody while you're in a meeting, just sitting in front of your home blasting music,” she said. “That’s been kind of a problem too.”
Metro Council referred a construction noise bill to government operations and regulations, according to their agenda notes.
According to Metro Nashville’s website, construction hours that are in, or adjacent to residentially zoned districts are limited between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. and during summer months of June, July and August, it’s between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
FOX 17 News reached out to council members to get specifics on the bill and we are waiting on a response.
